Voluntary Stewards

Southwark Playhouse is recruiting for volunteers who can assist with stewarding for performances. Here, we believe the performance starts as soon as the audience member picks up a leaflet, so our front of house team are an essential and valuable part of the Southwark Playhouse experience.

All you'd need to do is:

• Arrive at the theatre 45 minutes before the show starts.

• Welcome the audience members into the theatre giving them any help or directions they may need.

• Make any public announcements necessary.

• Tear the audience members’ tickets as they enter the space and remind them to turn off their mobile phones.

• Direct latecomers to seats at a suitable point in the production.

• Be available to help in the event of an evacuation.

• On very busy night, help the bar staff by clearing glasses.

• Assist the duty manager in carrying out their responsibilities.

So if you love the theatre, have good spoken English, bags of confidence and a big friendly smile, we would love to hear from you. We actively encourage people from all backgrounds to join us. Any time you can contribute would be gratefully appreciated, whether you have one night a week to spare, or one night a month. There are many benefits to being a Southwark Playhouse volunteer, read about some of them here.
