Southwark Playhouse presents

Matt Price

May 22nd 2009

Show starts: 21.30

Cornish-born, Cardiff-based Matt Price is officially the UK's first New Deal comedian. Having been on the dole for two years, he applied for the financial support of the Government’s New Deal scheme to help him launch his stand-up career - and was accepted. Before comedy, he also had a short career in boxing, and wrote a book on the subject.

Matt Price is rapidly developing a style of his own, riding 3 comedy horses at the same time: affable compere, stand-up comedian and storyteller. He is resident compere at Resurrected at O'Neill’s in Cardiff, the Flavel Arts Centre in Dartmouth and the Swansea Grand. He is comfortable on stage, is able to adapt to his audience, does the occasional bad joke and loves telling a good yarn.

“When it comes to low-key charisma and innate likeability, few comics are in the same league as Matt Price … he is able, with apparently little effort, to reel in the listener until they hang on his every word. Price’s storytelling skills are superb” Chortle

“...has extraordinary tales to tell about life behind the ropes” The Scotsman

MC: Sarah Bennetto
