‘No one cares enough to see what it’s really like. How hard everything is. Because it’s hard. It’s hard knowing that you can’t fix anything. You can’t do nothing about anything. It’s hard. And no one cares.’
Antler steps out of her front door and throws her phone to the ground. She stamps on it. Then she climbs the tallest tree in the park. She doesn’t want to be found, not by anyone.
Over the course of one autumnal evening, seven teenagers’ lives intertwine as they make their way through the park. And everything that seemed normal becomes extraordinary.
Southwark Playhouse 14 – 18 Young Company present a play about protest, power and protecting yourself.
Stef Smith studied Drama and Theatre Arts at Queen Margaret University in Edinburgh. Stef is currently best known for supplying the text for the critically acclaimed and sell out show RoadKill (Edinburgh Festival 2010, 2011) which won a Laurence Olivier Award in 2012. Remote was originally commissioned as part of the National Theatre Connections Festival in 2015.
