Two’s Company return to Southwark Playhouse with the first production in over 20 years of James Saunders’ mesmerising comedy.
Why do people fall in love? Or get married? Why do things fall apart? And what happens next? Bodies is a startling portrait of sexual and marital relations in the 1960’s and 70’s and delves into these questions with bitter humour. One of a string of successes written by James Saunders with many premiering at Richmond’s Orange Tree, Bodies had a successful West End run in 1979.
Previous Two’s Company productions include What the Women Did, The Cutting of the Cloth, The Fifth Column, and A Day by the Sea, as well as Goodbye to All That on November 11th 2018 – a special event to mark the centenary of the Armistice.
‘Bodies is a play which, when we have laughed at its wit, been held in the grip of its drama and revelled in the colours and layers of its language, still raises echo after echo in our minds and hearts.’ Bernard Levin, Sunday Times

On Monday 18th February after the evening performance, Sam Walters will talking about Bodies and answering questions. Sam is one of the great contributors to modern British theatre – he founded the Orange Tree Theatre in Richmond in 1971 and was its Artistic Director until 2013. As a great friend of the playwright, this will be a unique opportunity to delve behind the play and find out more about the man who wrote it from the person who discovered and championed him throughout his career.
