“My name is Kojo. This is my story. I choose where it starts. It starts now.”
Fleeing conflict in his home country, 14-year old Kojo arrives unaccompanied in the UK with no official papers and no grasp of the English language. Slowly rebuilding a future for himself whilst confronting the trauma of his past, his attempts to determine a new identity come under pressure when the system intended to help him starts to crumble.
In 2013 one thousand, one hundred and seventy four unaccompanied minors applied for asylum in the UK. With immigration policy high on the political agenda, Abi Morgan takes an unflinching look at the realities facing young people seeking safety in the UK.
